New works - painting: "are we here yet?"

A series of paintings (acrylic on canvas) inverts the standard view of cinemas role in borrowing from literature, art and real time event.

Referencing the cinema of Claude Lelouch, (specifically stills from "C'etait un Rendevouz" ) the work in progress provides snapshots of an urban trope that is experienced largely by pigeons and street cleaners.

The aim is to relocate Lelouch's Parisian dawn traverse to Wellington, initially via GoPro video footage and then attempt to capture the essence of a city caught in the liminal space.

The work continues the strand of nostalgic impossibility and temporal dislocation accessing a popular obsession with deserted urban vistas and abandoned place.
